Portfolio
This portfolio showcases select projects complete in the Design Fundamentals course and the University of Iowa. The work explores core design principles including form, space, color, texture, movement, and three-dimensional modeling. Through both digital and physical processes, these projects emphasize iteration, experimentation, and the development of visual composition skills.
Typography: This project, created in Adobe Illustrator, uses the letters in my name in various fonts and sizes to create a series of cohesive and interesting works.
Pavilion: This project, created in 3ds Max, investigates spatial experiences through form, light, and materials. Designed to welcome individuals inside to spend time, this pavilion uses planes and curves to guide the individual through the experience.
Color Theory: This project, created in Adobe Illustrator, explores how color relationships create a sense of movement and depth in an artwork. Using achromatic, basic primary, complementary, analogous warm, and analogous cool, these designs emphasize contrast, size, and flow.
Mobius Form: This project explores three-dimensional form through mobius-like paper models. Beginning with simple cuts and folds, through many iterations the design was refined to produce a cohesive model.
Ring: This project, created in 3ds Max, involved modifying simple shapes to design a ring. Consideration was given to scale, material thickness, and fabrication constraints to ensure that the design could be correctly printed.
Gestalt: A series of 2-dimensional works where in each work, 9 black squares are organized to make an abstract composition that shows fore, middle, and background, figure-ground relationship, similarity, proximity, closure, continuation, or similarity.Â
Container: This project, modeled in AutoCAD, consists of a series of 6 rectangles that have been cut to create male/female junctions that connect and support the rigid structure.
